About Red Wines:
Red Wines
4 Distinct Styles of Red Wines
Soft Fruity Reds, Mild mannered reds, spicy reds and
powerful reds. A break down of the different types of red wine characteristics
are defined below. During your wine country tour
presentation, your tour guide will go over the types of red wines you will
be tasting throughout the tour.
Soft
Fruity Reds
Fruity reds are relatively light-bodied with a lot of
fruitiness and little tannin (like Beaujolais Nouveau wine from France, some
Valpolicellas from Italy and many under $10 US wines).
Mild Mannered Reds
These red wines are medium-bodied with subtle un-fruity
flavors (like less expensive wines from Bordeaux in France and some inexpensive
Italian wines.
Spicy Reds
The spicy red wines are flavorful, fruity wines with
spicy accents that are generally used in most food pairing because of their
distinct acceptance of most meats and pastas.
Poweful Reds
In these kinds of red wines you will find full-bodied
and tannic characteristics such as the most expensive California Cabernets,
Barolo from Italy and the most expensive Australian red wines.
Throughout your California Wine Country Tour, these distinct red wine characteristics will often be noticeable during the winery tastings.
