Destino Wines
Destino Wines, Napa Valley
As a small wine producer, Destino specializes in ultra-premium California Chardonnay. Focusing on the producing intense and flavorful wines is the quest of owner Christopher Calkins. With exceptional fruit and a team of very talented winemakers makes Destino the superb winery that it is. They have great relationships with six different families that grow grapes in Napa and Sonoma County. These are long term relationships that are based around the mutual respect and dedication to making great wine from great grapes. It's this relationship that makes their wine popular within the Napa region.
Their philosophy is to use the components they know well to have strong characteristics for their wine, this is why they do not vineyard designate these wines. It's been said if they feel 5% from the Sonoma Coast will enhance their Napa Valley Chardonnay they will blend the two. Every one of their vineyards would support vineyard designation if that was their winemaking approach.
Wines: 2004 Russian River Chardonnay - Inspired by the great whites of Montrachet with their signature mix of finesse, lightness, body and bouquet, the 2004 Destino Russian River Chardonnay is sophisticated and balanced. This wine begins with soft aromatics derived from the Musque clone, before delivering rich notes of vanilla, ripe pear and apple on the palate.
