"Fantastic tour! And the wine is awesome!" Reviewed December 9, 2011
The tour was great! You get to see a lot of the area. Gus, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The wineries were great. You get a lunch voucher for one winery with a deli and picnic tables. It was a perfect day! Pace yourself on the wine! Overall, the tour exceeded my expectations. The ferry ride back at the end of the day was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
"Fun, Educational Tour, Nothing to Whine About!" Reviewed November 19, 2011
We booked this tour ahead of time at a cost of $98 each for my Lady friend and myself.
She checked a few tours ahead of time to find one she felt would be a good one, she previously worked in Tourist tours and felt that this was a good way to see Napa and the Wine district.
The reasons that this tour worked for us:
1. They used smaller shuttle busses rather than large buses
2. It was a full day tour 8.5 hours, so we had a complete day planned
3. The tour ran to schedule and the driver/guide was very informative and friendly
4. We found we got value for our money spent, we went to some good wineries, (I am sure there are lots to visit). Our lunch was included in the cost of the tour as was a return to San Francisco on a Ferry/Shuttle which was really a great way to finish the day and more relaxing than going through afternoon rush hour traffice
5. The tour felt unrushed and unhurried, the wineries we went to were all quite different, the individual stops were quite educational.
What we didn't like:
1. I hear people complaining about the cost of the wine tasting once you get on a wine tour. Each winery has a wine tasting fee, depending on the types and amount of wine you taste, this seems standard across the board at all the wineries. We have gone to other wine tastings in other parts of the country and this is standard practice. I am not going to whine about it!
The overview was that we enjoyed this tour, and would recommend it. The size of the shuttle bus was nice, not too large, the ferry boat ride back to San Francisco was a nice treat too, and something we wouldn't have done otherwise, but was a real bonus. We got good value for our money compared to other day tours we have done elsewhere. Napa was a fun place to go! I like wine, it was fun to see where and how it is made! No whining here!!
"Great way to visit wineries and not have to drive!" Reviewed October 28, 2011
We booked this trip while we were visiting San Francisco. We did not have, or want, a car but wanted to visit Napa. This tour was very informative, very much fun, and we didn't have to worry about sampling and driving! We opted to take the ferry back which was a perfect finish to the day.
"Amazing" Reviewed September 29, 2011
I had a spare day in San Fran and decided to jump aboard the Napa Valley tour. What a great decision that was, we had an amazing group and guide. The wineries we visited were fantastic, sure they weren't all the same quality but what you did get to see was a range of different winery styles - commercial to boutique etc.
"This Tour is Incredible!" - Kathryn, Sarah & Janet
This tour is incredible! Fantastic wineries with great wines and beautiful venues. The ride from the Ferry Building to Napa was great--my visitors from New York got to see the beautiful scenery on the way to Wine Country and ferry ride back to San Francisco offered another great scenic view. Our tour guide Dean was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the Wine Country and took the time with everyone to make sure they were having a good time. Great personal touch and appreciated by all. I will recommend this tour to all my family and friends. Kathryn, Sarah and Janet from New York
Customer Comments on their Research of all Wine Country Tours
We have researched all of the other tours available and just fell in love with the Wine Country Tour Shuttle that you have offered on your website. The cruise adds that special touch to the tour - and no other tour has it. I am wondering what I have to do to get a spot on the tour. I know the website says there are no seats left for Feb 20, 21, or 22nd - but how does your stand-by work and what are the odds of getting onto the tour? We have never been to California before and are both wine lovers, so we want to definitely do a tour. But I'd like to book something so I know that we will be able to enjoy wine country.
Please let me know if there is anything we can do to get on one of the tour on any of those days. We are only in San Francisco those few days and would do just about anything to attend your tour.
I loved my Tour Guide!
I just wanted to mention that our tour guide for the all day Wine Country Tour Shuttle, John Howard, was absolutely fabulous! As well as being incredibly knowledgable and witty. Please Thank him for a wonderful day!
The Wine Country Tour Shuttle was "Energetic"
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Wine Country tour I took on Friday, June 1. Jason Cohen was a great guide. In addition to the two friends I joined on the tour, everyone else was also fun and energetic, which added to the experience.
Took both the City and the Wine Country Tour!
My wife and I took two of your tours last week while we were visiting our son in San Francisco. I wanted to tell you that both tours were very informative and enjoyable. We really learned alot about the area. Our tour guide for both days was Jerry. He made the tours more enjoyable with his knowledge.
All Three of your Tours!
We wanted to let you know about our experience with the wine country tour as well as the San Francisco city/Muir Woods tour. The tour guides that we encountered on all 3 of these tours were excellent. Ellen, Tatiana and Tom were their names. They were all very kind, professional and knowledgeable. >We had a great time on these tours, and would definitely recommend them to others visiting the area.
Thanks for a wonderful experience. Teri R. and Mary Beth M.
Loved Mike & This Tour!
We just wanted to say thanks to Mike for a great tour. Mike is probably one of the best tour guides we have ever had. What ever you pay him, it needs to be more. He is worth it. We really enjoyed our tour even if the new shuttle driver did get a little lost.
What a Great Concept.
My wife and I booked a day tour of this wine country tour shuttle tour and could not stop raving about it during the tour. We loved the wineries, the guide, the picnic lunch and the ferry concept. Way to go! - Eric & Jenny from Michigan.
Big John Was Great
We had a great time on our tour of Napa Valley on Tuesday, April 8 with John Howard. John was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also entertaiing. He made us feel every bit at home. It was a pleasure to travel with (as he referred to himself) "Big John". Thanks for the great experience!! Bill and Del
Wineries were diverse!
Some friends and I recently took the Napa Wine tour and had a great time. The wineries that we visited were diverse in their sizes, and specialties, thus we feel that we got a good understanding of many different facets of the region and the wines produced in the area. Most of the folks in our group had never been to that area of the country and we all thought that the ride from San Francisco to Napa and the return ferry ride were scenic. We also had a very friendly and conversant guide (Kit) who gave us the background of the history of the region, the wine making process, the best way to purchase and travel with wine (which is very important if you're traveling home by plane) and the colorful cast of characters that made the area what it is today. Our tour and tour guide exceeded our expectations and have definitely motivated us to travel back to this part of the country in the near future.Kind regards, Brian New Orleans, LA
Other Tours (City and Muir Woods) were Excellent Too!
Small Group with Excellent Guide - Glen! (Travel website - November 22, 2010)
Glen starts the tour before you are even in the bus. He asks questions and takes you on a mini tour through the city before you cross the bridge. He has a wealth of information and you can ask him anything. The tour was pleasant and interesting. If you are not American you may have trouble getting wine shipped. We bought a few bottles with the intent of taking home-that didn't happen. The extra money for the tasting is pretty standard everywhere, so I was not surprised. It was a great day with a great host.
A Wonderful Day at a Great Price - (Travel website - November 17, 2010)
Loved the different wineries and the drive there was amazing as was the quick ferry back. The LUNCH was FANTASTIC. Would have prefered 3 stops and longer at each but still had a great time and the overall day would have been hard to beat in terms of tastings, production tour, etc. Jerry our tour guide was awesome
