Chimney Rock Winery
Chimney Rock Winery, Napa Valley
Established in 1980 by wine pioneer Anthony J. Terlateo,
Chimney Rock Winery is one the gems along the Sivlerado Trail. With 137 acres
of land growing some of the finest fruit in the world. Best know for their
Elevage wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and
Cabernet Franc has help put this winery on the map. Shaded
by a grove of poplar trees, Chimney Rock Winerie's pristine cape dutch buildings
are steep with slate gray roofs.
After searching for winery property in France, they ended up in Napa Valley and were convinced that the soils and microclimates of the Stags Leap District were perfect for the kinds of wines they wanted to produce. They purchased the golf course in Stags leap and buldozed 9 of the 18 holes to plant grapes on. Douglass Fletcher from nearby Stelzner Vineyards in Stags leap became the head winemaker.
