Duties of Wine Sommelier

The word sommelier draws its origin from the Latin word called as sagma which means "pack saddle". Today the word sommelier has become one of the most popular word used to refer a wine steward, he possess expert knowledge about the different and amazing wines, he exquisitely serves them.
Some of the duties that are performed by the wine sommelier are as follows:

  • The creation of the wine list.
  • Knowing what are the wine combinations that can go really very well.
  • Ordering the wines.Maintaining the other wines.Serving the wines.
  • Training the staff about the wines and their insights so as to respond to the customers with their queries.

A wine sommelier should be well aware with the different:

  • Grapes that are to be used.Regions where the best grapes are available.
  • The different wine yards those are present in these regions.
  • The vintages of the wine.
